The Enlightenment influenced many revolutions during the time of 1600’s - 1800’s, some of the revolutions inspired by enlightenment were Rio de la plata, New Granada and the American revolution. All of these revolutions looked up and used many ideas given by the enlightenment thinkers such as rebelling against a government that is not following what their people want. The enlightenment thinkers influenced Rio de la plata and New Granada because their revolution leaders were enlightened, both San Martín and Simone Bolívar were in Europe and when they got back they used the ideas given by the enlightened thinkers for their revolutions. They used the ideas that they should be free, everyone is equal and just simply have their own rules. The enlightened thinkers also influenced one of the most recognized revolutions in the world, the American Revolution. In the revolution many of the ideas used by Thomas Jefferson in the constitution came from John Locke, an enlightenment thinker. Thomas Jefferson used many ideas given by John Locke such as liberty, property and pursuit of happiness only that were changed in some way so it wouldn’t be the same as John Locke’s. If it weren’t because of the enlightened thinkers many countries today wouldn’t be free.

People didn’t have to fight so much for their freedom like many other countries but Napoleon made it easier for them to take their land back. Brazil was affected by the French revolution because Napoleon declared war against Portugal making the royal family flee to Brazil for shelter. In Brazil the royal family created council of state, royal treasury and making Brazil equal politically to Portugal’s. Finally Haiti was affected because one black citizen stood up against the French government to abolish slavery. When France passed the Declaration of Rights and Men Haiti took the chance and was able to win their independence against France. It’s hard to think how one revolution affected worldwide many revolutions that now a days are free because of it, and some of them weren’t even affected directly by it.

Politically the Spaniards had power over all none Spanish people, they could get the best jobs, best position and better payed than any native or creole living in that time. People did not agree with what the government was doing for the people such as starving them, giving them little rights and did not believe that the king should have the last word in everything. The government implemented a higher taxation so that it will pay for the debt that the government caused, agriculture collapsed after seven years war, and people were starving to death. The government did nothing to help their citizens so when the people heard the ideas of the enlightened thinkers they knew that the right thing to do was rebel against the king.
